I'm a life-long Chicagoan who has lived in a northern suburb since my late wife and I moved from the city with our daughter. That was only a week before our son was born on our daughter's second birthday. (Talk about kids having to share!) Before marriage, I had attended Northwestern University and the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where I earned my BA and JD degrees. Since then, my clerkship at the Illinois Appellate Court, private practice of law and work as a consultant and real estate broker have provided a diverse background that informs my fiction, including short stories (samples on this site), first novel, Though We Have No Merits, and my forthcoming legal thriller, Gershom's Will.
My fiction has been published in the Origins Journal, Typehouse Literary Magazine, Akashic Books' Mondays Are Murder series, Chicago Literati, Front Porch Review, bird's thumb, Mash and elsewhere. You'll not only see full or partial samples of my writing on this site, but you'll also be able to request FREE copies of my longer published work. Of course, I hope to persuade you to read my new novel, as well as to get to know me. And I'd like a chance to get to know you, too. Tell me what you like to read, and why, on our Contact page. And for sample short stories, click the samples button..
I've just published my first novel, Though We Have No Merits, which you can read more about by clicking the preview button:
